Incorporated in 1882, the City of Philomath is located in Benton
County, Oregon, at an elevation of 280 feet above sea level, where
the Marys River leaves the Coast Range. Our current population
is 4,310.
Philomath is the home of the Benton County Historical
Museum, located in the old Philomath College building.
Completed in 1867, this commanding structure still serves as the
centerpiece of the community. The bricks were made of clay
excavated, molded and fired at the site; and the exterior walls are
24 inches thick.
